Iran-Linked Hackers Hit Israeli Sectors with New MuddyViper Backdoor in Targeted Attacks

Iranian nation-state group MuddyWater (aka Mango) conducted targeted attacks against Israeli entities across multiple sectors including academia, engineering, local government, manufacturing, technology, transportation, and utilities. The attacks deployed a previously undocumented backdoor called MuddyViper. ESET attributed this activity to the known Iranian threat actor group. The campaign represents ongoing Iranian cyber espionage efforts against Israeli critical infrastructure and government organizations.
